something wonderful is going to happen

I love Jimi Hendrix.

There is a pinched nerve somewhere causing shooting burns down my arm skin and tingling down into the muscles - this morning I took something for it, since ibuprofen and aleve were not working at all last night. This all night sleepless pain thing was disturbing, but made better by the fact that at 3:22 AM L. popped in because his food was ready on Cafe World. I asked him how he did that. He wasn't sure. So I of course logged onto Cafe World on Facebook and let the little dude serve his food. This morning I used it as a reward. C. likes FishTankThing and L. likes the Cafe. So before I even woke up, C. had flossed, brushed, dressed and everything, bright and early without even a word from me, so he could feed his fish. It was great. I think we were still almost late because I was so tired I couldn't concentrate. I took the muscle relaxer at about 9. Then I promptly fell asleep for hours. I'm still asleep. I wasn't good to drive so skipped my 10:30 class. I did go to my 12:20 practicum, which was good even though I shouldn't have probably been driving then either. Maybe next time I'll take just half.

I got to help with the printmaking last week and today. Oh how I love printmaking. I want to buy boxes and boxes of styrofoam and ink and a roller and baren and make prints galore. So I inked styrofoam and made prints with the kiddos and enjoyed every minute of it. Oh also he let me teach the lesson on painting the tree. We had the lesson in class (college) then last week I was there and watched him teach it to the kids. Today he started it and said "Well do you want to teach it?" so I did. It was great because I really had memorized his speech, because I've seen it three times. I probably forgot some things, but it was still fun. I stood up in front of the group and painted the tree on the paper. "Look students see how the trunk is thick like a road? It is like when we are driving into town, here is the road we take to go to the mall. (the trunk branches out) and here's the road we take if we are going to the grocery store (the trunk branches to the other side) - do you know the letter Y? The tree has a lot of letter Y shapes, lets see how many you see." We also talk about how the trunk is thick like when our legs are together, then we branch out using our arms and fingers as branches and twigs. Oh   I did forget to have them stand up and be trees. They stand up and branch their arms out and then Mr. B makes his hand into a bird. I did the bird, because he asked me if I had been practicing my bird noises. The mouth makes bird flapping noises and the bird flies around and lights on the students tree hands. I am sure I am learning more in this practicum than I've learned in the other ones because he has such a lovely delivery of the lessons and a way of talking to the students which makes clear which behavior he appreciates from them and which behaviors are not working out.

I had a beautiful few hours Friday making clay boxes. The highschool art teacher I have practicum with is the 3D teacher. I never specialized in anything, but I took lots of pottery classes. Even though my ex husband got custody of all the stuff in "our" studio I really only need my hands. Coffee mugs and bowls are easy pinch pots. Who needs a wheel? The assistive art (not sure what assistive means, other than if they can't do it themselves someone assists?) special ed class came in and I spent a delightful hour showing them how to make textured slabs on the roller. It makes me wish I still had all the pottery equipment. But I guess I could take a pottery advanced studies at school if I wanted to.

Speaking of which, my painting prof has suggested we take good photos of my new paintings next week to submit for the Kiosk, which is a literary something at the college. Who knows, I could be famous one day.

My arm nerves are driving me crazy. I think it's time to take something.
