self portrait with moustachio II

This evening I was excited to see the Hideout Photography contest for self portraits. Self portraiture is almost a guilty pleasure, something for which I'm sure other people would look at me differently if they realized what I do. My favorites involve some type of costume makeup. I take millions of them, I slather white eyeshadow over my eyelashes and cheeks, I draw in moustaches, I shoot with or without children hanging on me, I do with or without makeup. I started taking pictures of myself about 6 years ago when I realized I had no idea what I looked like, and now realize the elusive perfect photograph of myself is only a click away.

Well that is because you are so beautifully photogenic. Some of us do not want to see that we look like water buffalo under the lens.
The mustache portrait has always been my favorite. (of the ones you have shared.
My secret for making you think I'm photogenic is, you will never see the 80 jillion other ones where I look like a water buffalo!
love your artwork! very interesting.

Do you use a tripod or just a timer? I've never done a self portrait--I wonder what I would come up with??
I sometimes put the camera on a table or something and use a timer, but all three of these were just held out at the end of my arm, then I crop it. Keep in mind you have to hold your shoulders way down if you just hold it out there and click, because if your shoulders are hunched up in the picture everyone can tell you took it yourself.
