something wonderful is going to happen

It is never good when you get called to the office.

What happened last week? I am wondering if I can remember it?

I thought I worked Monday but I went back and realized it was last week. This week I only worked 2 days. On Tuesday I was sitting outside the school waiting for the PTO meeting so I called into the sub system and it said there was a 9 day job so I jumped at it. So lucky. Or so I thought. On Wednesday I got up, drove to school ACROSS TOWN, clocked in, got the attendance sheet, started planning, and got called to the office.

It is never good when you get called to the office.

So I walked down to the office and the secretary called me into her office and I was informed that the teacher made a mistake when she posted the job. She was going to specify her preferred sub and instead it went out to everybody, and so for the sake of continuity for the students, blah blah blah, I had to clock out and go home. So I cried. It felt better.

I think this is a huge injustice. I got cheated! Swindled! Hornswaggled! I lost Nine Freakin Days!

I did end up working Thursday and Friday. I had 2nd graders on Thursday and then High School Seniors on Friday... that was interesting. I'm still tired. I had better luck keeping the 2nd graders in line. Not really but sometimes you know it feels that way?

Well this is a lame post.

Here's a picture of me in my new hat.
In other news my middle child tried to convince me to adopt his friend's cat. I felt like it would have been a great idea if we had a house and not a postage stamp. Then I felt horrible because there was the question of whether the cat was going to get sent to the pound if I didn't take it (where does he learn these strong-arm techniques?) but luckily the dad finally got on the phone and we chatted about the kitty and he said it wasn't that big of a deal. Whew. I mean I do want another cat but like I told this guy, I need to save my money. Hell, I need to go to the dentist, not buy some more cat food!

Wow still lame.

Oh I made some crochet stuff. I made a bunting. I crochet-ed some granny triangles (just like a granny square but in a triangular configuration) and crochet-ed a cord along the tops of the triangles, et voila!
I think I prefer the fabric triangles to the crochet ones, but I'm sending these to my sisters. They can hang them up for Easter and leave them up all spring.

Subbing sounds like hell. And it sounds like you got skunked with the 9-day job and somebody wanted a friend to get the job. Bummer. Sorry that happened to you.

I really do enjoy subbing, I like the kids and it's always something new but there is a lot of stress involved with not knowing if you have a job tomorrow. It was a bummer about the 9 days, I went out to my van and cried.
