I am not cold. It is 26 degrees out, 62 inside, and I am fine. This is a first! Thank you slipper socks. No really I am a little cold. I tried the furnace the other day because SomeBoys were complaining but I just heard the click not the whoosh noise it makes when it's gonna eventually warm up the apartment. That was days ago. I just loaded them up with extra socks and some sleeping bags over the usual blankets. My landlord is on his way eventually to light the pilot light to the furnace that lives above my bedroom. This afternoon J. and I went up into the attic of delight to try and do it. I couldn't figure it out. I was willing to try this year. Most years I have just called the landlord and suggested I was too inept to do anything up in the attic which would require flammable things because I really didn't want to go up in the attic. This year I was feeling adventurous. Plus, I thought J. could just do it because he is a man and apparently I'm sexist like that. I/we moved the fridge, oven and the little cabinet thingy between the oven and the dryer (um, yeah) and I directed J. toward the door to the attic stairs. I then encountered first-hand how he looks when he comes face to face with a bat. Granted it was a few bats. But they were all dead, stuck to those sticky traps. Yes they are gross and pathetic and sad. They don't really freak me out. I credit myself with working very hard on maintaining a calm and collected demeanor. I am happy to say that even though deep in my cerebrum, I am probably freaked out by the dead bats and the poop and the bizarre fluffy insulation and the light showing through the cracks of the attic which allows me to see a way more spooky view than I should, I'm quite fine. As for the man who isn't overly freaked out to walk into a burning building, a burning airplane, or to save some dying person's life, he, on the other hand became a very interesting psychological case. Gawd I love that man. He's the most interesting human being I know.
I did this deer and painted it in watercolor a few nights ago, I really like it!
