Starting 150 mcg Synthroid now for goodness sake ...that's some high voltage stuff! Even considering the measurement is in micro-grams and that is way smaller than milligrams. Up from 112 mcg. I have been on Levoxyl brand for years and years. Contrary to popular belief, Levoxyl is an actual brand and not a generic. Generic is bad bad bad for thyroids FYI because of those micro-grams. The human body responds to tiny little changes in thyroid hormones. Generics may contain a variable from one pill to the next, one company to the next, and while this is fine for drugs like Advil and generic ibuprofin, which comes in 500 mg pills, a variation between the brand name and the generic is really okay. But if the generic thyroid stuff varies much from the dosage you should have, you can be swinging up and down quite a bit. My TSH went from 1.3 in July on Levoxyl to 7 this month. I have no idea if that's because I've gained weight or if I missed some days of meds or what, but she sure did up that dosage to 150. This is a minor miracle, especially in the more vocal part of Thyroid Land. Thyroid Land is full of people who lament their weight gain, joint and muscle pain, fatigue, doctors who won't change their dosage, etc. and I've been among the frustrated ones, freaked out, disappointed, sad. We are the Who. The doctors are Horton. Once in a while the doctors will hear us. Seriously this summer I did 3 months of Weight Watchers. I religiously followed my eating plan, I worked out, I did everything right. Nothing happened.
This time I visited the doctor, I asked for Synthroid brand, instead. Because one time I had a few weeks of samples and felt way better with Synthroid and was actually able to exercise and eat right and lose weight. I planned to take Synthroid at my regular dose, and feel better, follow my plan and be fine. So now I'm taking not only the different brand but also a higher dose. I'm somewhat giddy. Also I would have guessed 130 would be a more rational jump than 150!
Logan Grills!
I got my substitute work account number and pin so now I can work! I'm going to do some shopping tomorrow for dinner stuff this weekend since we invited a little boy to spend the night tomorrow, as well as lunch stuff for next week, and then put together a substitute bag of tricks. Diet wise I think I'll do better now that I'll be subbing all day, eating plan-ahead meals, with no time to snack. Starting a resistance-band workout too.
Very very interested to see what happens on 150 mcg.
