appointments
Trying to make an appointment to see someone anyone with credentials to write my thyroid prescription is a pain in the ass. Why do I of all people have to have one of those conditions that require ongoing maintenance. I don't even go get my hair cut I'm so cheap with my time. I'm feeling a little grouchy. It isn't as if I'm House. I'm not asking for morphine or some kind of pills I don't actually need to live. It's a $17 prescription. I thought I understood I could go to the college nurse while the doc was there, get examined there, since I really did actually pay the college for the service of having a doctor available for certain circumstances and I'm not actually going to be sick any day in any way that I can't take care of myself. I mean, if the kids on campus were sick, they could go see her. If I was sick, I could go see her. But to prevent my getting sick, I can't go see her? I can still pay the college $100 for a coupon or something to get my blood drawn at the hospital, for all these other different blood tests plus the thyroid tests. Which involves fasting. Eh. And take time away from student teaching. There is no good way to do that. I have an appointment at the local clinic, like the one with the sliding scale, and that is at the very tail end of February. That will make for a very interesting February if I can't figure out my situation before that. Because without my medication I just slow down to a crawl and get fuzzy. And turn to slush. And evaporate. So I need to figure something out. Why do I hate spending money?

so you saw her at the clinic and she wouldn't write you a prescription? did you ask her for one directly? please, lady, you don't understand. i CANNOT take off to come see you during the actual day. i am here now and i have made an appointment with your office on ___ -_____. please, please, PLEASE????
Well I made the appointment to have my blood drawn at the Dr. office (not at the college) thinking then she could see me at the college and write the prescription, because that was how it was explained to me last time. But she had her minions call me and explain that won't work. It worked last year, but whatever. Then realized I didn't have the money to pay full price so I canceled the first one and made another appointment at the city community clinic but was dismayed that they can't see me for a whole month because they are starting a new electronic record keeping program or whatever. If I had just called them in the first place, instead of indulging my misplaced loyalties, I would have gotten in under the wire I bet, and not had to wait four weeks. I'll be okay, I'm taking lots of Vitamin C. And the occasional squirt of Windex.
