bleh

The snow came back after the ice. I am tired of this weather. The sun was out this morning when we got up. For some reason sun still means warm to me although I should know better. I went out with no long underwear and no hat or earmuffs. I was about frozen solid by the time I got to the library. The legs suffer if you forget the long underwear. I did find the hat and earmuffs later in my bag so I should be fine once I finally leave the library this afternoon. I've been in the library for hours now. I wrote up my classroom observation and printed that and my classroom management philosophy out. Bought a new $5 copy card. Bought some twice baked potato soup and a ham & cheese croissant. Ate. Explored Eric Carle's blog.

J. is working on the last side of my canvas stretcher this morning with his friend. I imagine they're done now. We went to his friend's house and used his workshop stuff in his garage, which I found preferable to using my electric miter saw in my kitchen and spraying sawdust all over the world. The men have ways of doing things and they like to do things their own way. That is all I will say. The stretcher will outlive us all. This one is 5' x 3' and I'm very excited. Here is how it will look:

Or I think it will. Now I'm not so sure about the proportion. If this image is 5x7 inches, will it be proportioned right for a 3x5 foot canvas? Well we hope so anyway. If not, I suppose there will be lots of shadow on either side.

I haven't "moved in" to my studio yet, which I think my teacher hoped I would do last weekend. She was very encouraging, I think the goal is, we can just walk down there to see my work instead of me dragging it all over campus to class with me. I can do that this Friday. I don't have that much stuff to move. I guess if I bring my saw & a drill over there, I can make more canvases there. oh and the stapler. Probably I could bring the big canvas for that dog with the red eyes.

Okay well I have class in ten-ish minutes so I better get over there.

Ugh. Snow.
