something wonderful is going to happen

dunno

I haven't really settled down from this weekend. What with shooing people off the porch roof and badges and all that excitement I'm just wound up. I don't think I have much to say. I have decided screen printing is this week. Hopefully Tuesday. Maybe next weekend. Printmaking is Monday in class and then I will write down what kind of ink we use. Tuesday I bet I will be tired that night because between 9 & 11 I'm demonstrating in the pottery studio for a visiting high school Talented & Gifted class/group/something. Then I have class at noonish and something else planned later that day.  Might do it Wednesday morning. Because that makes sense.
We did some sewing and some gardening. L. brought home his Bonnie Plants 3rd Grade Cabbage sometime last week and I planted it in one of the planters on our deck while they were at their dads' last weekend.

Mr. C. wanted to do his own reverse embroidery projects. And really I liked his so much I want one with a skull too. I don't have a picture of the cabbage.

Today we went to W's because her nephew is deployed and we made a "mix tape" for him, plus a box of snacks. We ran to ShopKo and L. got very excited about the plants. He picked out a bunch of pansies while Mr. C. sulked. I was happy though because L. wasn't that interested in making a pattern and sewing. But he was excited about picking out plants. We planted about 5 of W's planters with multicolored purple yellow and pink pansies. They were so cute. I'd never seen the pansies with the frilly edged flowers. I still had dirt down my bra not too long ago. I like gardening at other people's houses because I'm just not much into long distance watering. It is such a big pain to trek down the stairs with milk jugs full of water and slosh it on the plants. So far we have just the one cabbage. Hopefully it will be okay in a planter. The marigold seeds I save every year from when the flowers die and make seeds are not even scattered around yet. I didn't feel like it. Maybe I'll spend a few bucks on some petunias though. They don't seem to mind too much when I forget to water them.

I still wish the guys would draw some new patterns for me. L. has helped sew bunny dolls before. They were talking about doing a rock-n-roll guitar. Maybe I will spin off of that. I tried to encourage C. to draw some more designs by tracing a cereal bowl four times on the paper we were using for patterns. The idea was he should draw four designs, one in each circle, because they would be the perfect size. And then he got all giggly because the big round circles on the paper reminded him of boobs. er. Breasts. (I don't like saying boobs because it reminds me of the word for stupid.  You are such a boob. Like a boob would be synonymous with boobs. I don't like using negative terms synonymously with human terms. But it is kinda fun to say.)

I did sketch every day this week, I think. Maybe. I know we went to Omaha on Tuesday and I sketched on the drive down there. I was interested in those little barns with the trees growing out of the middle of the roof. Sometimes it's the grain silos with trees out the top but I saw a little barn out there on the way down.  Wed. maybe. Thursday? Um. Friday for sure, maybe. Yesterday last night I illustrated the notes I took about the gallery visits we made on Tuesday. Today I worked on one of the drawings from yesternight. The photogs took pictures inspired by famous paintings. One especially nice one was the old guitarist by Mr. Picasso. So I was interested in drawing a version of that myself. It turned out okay. He looks like he's a lot younger and he's been sitting in that spot a long time. I gave him an extra pillow to sit on. Also his head is large in my drawing. I tried some other things too. If I had my camera battery I'd take some pictures of the sketchbook workings but I don't so I won't.

I do have this. You might recognize this guy. (I didn't take these he did, but Picasa spits all the exported photos out with what they term a "watermark" which is really more like a teensy unobtrusive signature...) You have to admit, the next generation is always smarter and better at taking photographs of themselves than the generation before. He bought that pin striped fedora yesterday at WalMart. Geesh. He is interesting to go shopping with. He goes off by himself, he does his own thing, he comes back. He walks around. He comes back. Very mellow and minding his own business. Figures that I'd get one of these kids that everybody looks at. I think he looks like a rock star but I do wonder what other people think. I don't much Care what they think, but I do wonder what crosses their minds. It sort of makes me want to cry a little. They see this tall skinny kid in black jeans and his hairs all in his eyes and they don't know he is great at loading the dish washer and takes out the trash and will willingly do chores for my friends like shoveling snow. They don't know he can scrub a tub like nobody's business. They would never suspect he brings me his latest favorite comedian videos on YouTube to watch and sits right down beside me and puts his head on my shoulder. He's like a gigantic exotic friendly egret standing in the middle of a field of all us regular cows.

Oooh I was just re-reading this and decided I totally have patterns after all. The deranged looking bunny dolls! They will be so cute. I need to run out to Goodwill and buy some cheap decent tee-shirts. I saw a great idea for what to do with cut up tee-shirts that I want to adapt to my own ideas. Scarves!

Love this..."He's like a gigantic exotic friendly egret standing in the middle of a field of all us regular cows." Do you hate it when I quote your words? They are great, though. You are a wonderful mother. Want to adopt me? :)
