Farm Slideshow
Here is my goat again, along with some of the buildings on the farm I visited. Also the ducks and geese, Elvis & Costello the twin runner ducks, Lucy & Ethel the geese and Daisy the white farm duck. The horses were still suspicious & uncooperative. But that's okay. Oh and the beagle, Buster. He's adorable, he could smell Amanda's Grandma Dee cooking fried chicken. He was at the door immediately upon arriving from next door, and stared intently at the door, because of course a Beagle Nose is something fierce. Once he put a paw on the door, as if to remind her that he was out there and by the way don't forget he's eating all that chicken with her tonight. But he's incredibly polite.
OMG I lost my keys. Last night we smoked chicken. I have a thing about smokers, no not people with cigarrettes. I don't have a smoker, but I love smoking meats. Don't know why. Well I do. My daddy smokes things. So was delighted Amanda's friend decided to smoke some hot wings... and for our wings, we used drumsticks. Delicious. Halleluja. I'm totally putting that green egg shape smoker on my list of things I'm buying once I'm more financially secure.
Amanda and I got up in the morning, expecting to take right off because the kids were going to be delivered to my house this morning... well anyway long story short, too late for that, somehow in the midst of arriving, bringing in a Ray LaMontagne CD, chopping up habenero chiles, making a hot glaze/sauce (Delishious!)the keys were misplaced last night...but I didn't realize it, I just assumed I left them on the seat so if we needed to move the van, there they be.
So I traced my steps over to talk to the horses, kicked around in the dewy grass, got my jeans legs soaked up to my knees, soaked my shoes, blah blah blah, looked ALL OVER THE HOUSE... no keys. So we re-re-traced. Oh, might I mention, there are two bread boxes. I looked in one. I searched Behind. The. Other. One. Well inside that Other One, was my set of keys, which I did not know. So I'm thinking a little nephew may have done that...or somebody thought they were being funny. Or the house really is haunted. Amanda's friend swears he heard someone walking around on the main floor, and also a little kid laughing one evening while he was down in the basement fixing the dryer. Alone in the house.
And of course I couldn't leave without the keys, of course we are out in BFE and there's no cell reception. The land line hasn't been hooked up yet, they just moved in. So I attempted to call the kids' dad, tried to text him... no luck. Fiasco City. But it turned out okay. To make up to the boys that they'd been left alone locked outside my house, then had to go to granpa's then picked up... Amanda bought them donuts and then we sat around and had a great time shooting photos of insects and I leant Logi the camera and he took Rainman Photos. Very good ones I think. Dig the Altar to Snow White arrangement. Oh and the pink flower, the boy took that one too. Fabulouso. Then we took them swimming and they spent hours on the waterslide, grinning from ear to ear.

Beautiful photos! I love them/ I'm glad you went back to see your goat.
Boo!
i was hoping jim and garret would make a comment about 'smoking meat'.
d/iowa: I thought of a few things at the time like "I hear smoking meat is unhealthy." or "I wonder if that's cheaper than cigarettes." and about 2-3 more but I was behind on reading blogs and just wanted to courteously comment and move on to the next.
